Hello Mom and Dad’s beloved ones:

I would like to start this letter by saying my name, but I haven’t chosen one yet. I am 18 weeks and two days today. I love my present home; it’s very warm, cozy and spacious. My life here is very sweet, the food is delicious and the sleeping quarters are superb. I spend all day playing with my cord over and over and sucking my thumb. Jumping is my favorite activity; I love it so much that I am considering becoming an acrobat when I grow up. How big am I? It’s hard to say since I change every day; yesterday the Dr. said that I was 8 in. and weight 8 ounces, I don’t know today or tomorrow. Until two weeks ago, it was difficult to see my Mommy’s bump, now it’s cute and evident. I will arrive on September 22, but since I am a jokester, just like my Dad, I might take a little less or more. My parents often speak and sing to me. They already read to me my first short story “Dr. Seuss”. They are thrilled because they found out yesterday that I am a healthy, and active baby boy.

My parents told me that I have four grandparents; two of them speak English and two Spanish. I heard all of them love me and are getting ready to buy me ice creams, toys, tricycles and lollypops. I heard tío José loves me already. He is going to teach me to ride horses, take photos and play tricks on my Mom. Aunt Marsha loves me too; she bought me my very first set of green clothes, very smart from her part. Also, I have heard of my wonderful great grandparents, Papitogrande and his wisdom and Mamagüela and her immense love, I love you already.

My parents always speak fondly of my uncles, aunts and cousins. I hope to meet you all soon. I can’t wait for you to discuss to whom do I look alike. I know that my parents are blessed with wonderful friends. I know this because I can hear everything from my home. Some of you live near, some others away, but you are all special. I am thankful for the lovely and kind words you have been telling my parents since you found out about me. I can’t wait to play with all of you.

I have to go because my mom has to work and I can no longer borrow her computer. Hopefully she ends soon, so she can talk to Dallas and play with me and Lili, the cat I am going to love.

Hola queridos de mi Mami y Papi:

Me gustaría empezar esta carta diciéndoles mi nombre, pero todavía no me decido por ninguno. Lo que si les puedo contar es que tengo 18 semanas y dos días y me encanta mi casita, es calientita y espaciosa. Mi vida aquí adentro es bien chévere, la comida que me dan es riquísima, la cama es deliciosa y me paso todo, todito, el día jugando con mi cordón hasta el cansancio. También, me chupo el dedo y salto, tanto me gusta esto último que estoy pensando en ser acróbata cuando sea grande. ¿Qué tan grande soy? Ayer la doctora dijo que medía 20 cm. y pesaba 8 onzas, pero todos los días cambia la cifra. Hasta hace dos semanas era difícil ver que mi Mamita me llevaba adentro, pero ahora soy evidente. Mi posible venida al mundo es el 22 de septiembre, pero como soy “bromioso” como mi papá y me gusta dar sorpresas, tal vez me demoré un poquito menos o más. Mis papás son buenos conmigo, me hablan, me cantan y hasta me leyeron mi primer cuento, “Dr. Seuss”. Repiten y repiten lo mucho que me quieren. Están contentos porque ayer me vieron y se enteraron de que soy un niño sanito, activo y completito.

Mis papás me han contado que tengo cuatro abuelitos, dos me van a hablar en inglés y dos en español y todos, toditos, se están alistando para comprarme todos los helados, juguetes, triciclos y chupetes del mundo. Dicen que el tío José también me quiere y me espera ansioso, oí por ahí que me va a enseñar a montar caballo, a tomar fotos y a hacer trucos para molestarle a mi Mami (tíito nos vamos a querer muchísimo) La tía Marsha anda de lo más feliz, me compró mi primera ropita, debe ser muy inteligente porque escogió el color verde, mi preferido. También, me han hablado de Papitogrande y su sabiduría y de la Mamagüela y su cariño inmenso, a todos ustedes, les quiero desde ya.

Mis papás siempre hablan con cariño de mis tíos, tías, primos y primas, espero conocerles pronto para que me vean y decidan a quién me parezco. También, me cuentan de sus buenos amigos, creo que he oído hablar de todos ustedes, algunos cerca otros lejos, pero todos especiales. He oído desde aquí adentro toditas sus conversaciones de ustedes con mis papás, gracias por ser tan cariñosos conmigo y por sus ansias de conocerme, ya pronto nos veremos para poder jugar y jugar.

Me voy porque mi Mamá tiene que trabajar y ya no me empriesta más la computadora. Ojalá que acabe pronto para que pueda hablar con el Dallas y conmigo y jugar con la Lili, mi futura compañera de travesuras.
